Do You Have a Disaster Plan?

Reading about the fires in California, hurricanes and floods on the east coast, and tornadoes in between got me thinking. Do we have a disaster plan?

When you suddenly have to evacuate your property NOW, do you know what you will do? Even just thinking about it for a few minutes would help you be ready in the future. After all, it wasn't that long ago that wildfires were everywhere in central Texas.

If you have a loved one who's needing help from an agency like ours, they probably have medical needs and transportation issues. Are you sure where their medications are, how theycan be moved, and whether they can make it to their future doctor appointments?

Don't forget us!

And what about pets? What will you do with them? If you have livestock, like many of us here do, how will they be cared for if you're leaving them, and otherwise, how will they be transported?

A Few Hints

People we know have told us they have a portable file system with important papers in it, like insurance information, a record of what's in the house, prescriptions, important contacts, etc. They can pick that up quickly.

Water, snacks, blankets, and pillows help, as will a pre-packed toiletry kit (I have that!). Some folks pack a small suitcase with underwear, socks, pajamas, and a few shirts, just in case. Stick in some phone chargers, just in case!
